You can’t always be sitting at your laptop or phone thinking about content or tweets to write.
The Tweet scheduler is a good way to plan and drip-feed tweets on set days and times. Sometimes you might not have access to the internet, have run out of inspiration and ideas or just need a break.
This is where feature in Social Opinion called the Evergreen Tweet can help.
What Is an Evergreen Tweet?
An evergreen tweet is a tweet that can stand the test of time and be as relevant today as it will be next week, next month or even next year. An evergreen can basically be recycled one on many times.
Evergreen tweets can help you maintain an online presence, promote your content on a regular basis or help with other marketing activities.
What Does the Evergreen Tweet Feature Do?
You can think of the evergreen tweet feature as a co-pilot for the tweet scheduler.
If the tweet scheduler has empty slots an evergreen tweet is auto injected at runtime & shared on Twitter without any intervention from you.
Activating Evergreen Tweets
You activate Evergreen tweets in the Global Settings for the Tweet Scheduler. You can see this here:
With the setting enabled, the next thing you need to do is create some evergreen tweets.
Creating Evergreen Tweets
You create an evergreen tweet by accessing the link underneath the tweet scheduler. When in the evergreen tweet’s dashboard, simply click Add New and supply the tweet copy. You can also upload any images or select any emojis if you wish.
Here we can see three sample evergreen tweets:
Good candidates for evergreen tweets include, but are not limited to:
- blogs you’ve written
- advertisements or marketing campaigns
- inspiration or links to other evergreen content
We can look at an example of this in action.
Tweet Scheduler Slots
Here we can see a typical schedule definition in the settings for the tweet scheduler. We have three slots for each day of the week:
Tweet Schedule
In the schedule dashboard only one scheduled tweet “regular tweet” has content. The other two slots in red boxes have no content so nothing would be sent:
But as the evergreen tweet option has been set, random tweets will be selected to fill the empty slots. You can see this in action here:
As we get into August, I’ll be using the evergreen tweet feature to reshare some blogs that people have missed.
Summary
The Evergreen Tweet feature is available for all customers that have a subscription in Social Opinion. Give it a try!
If you’re a developer and want to tap into the new Twitter Developer API (V2) I also have a free NuGet package. You can find that here.
