Quick And Easy Tips To Make Your Business Greener

The idea of making your business greener can seem a little complex, however, it can be easier than think. Sustainability can happen from just a few simple changes. You don’t need to complete radical transformations or make a huge investment. In fact, a few small changes could help you go greener without it costing a fortune.

Let’s look at some of the changes you can make below:

Introduce A Recycling Programme

This is one of the most simple yet effective ways you can make your business more environmentally friendly. Introducing a recycling scheme in your workplace is something that most employees will naturally get on board with too, after all, they do it at home anyway.

Some of the items you can think about recycling include:

  • Scrap paper
  • Cans and tins from lunchtime
  • Cardboard from deliveries
  • Magazines, newspapers, and junk mail
  • Plastic bottles
  • Printer cartridges

Set up some easy to identify recycling points around the office where there is going to be a high volume of traffic. This will make it easy and simple for your employees to get on board with minimal effort. Next to the usual waste bin is always a good place to get this set up.

Go Paperless

In digital times, we live in now, there aren’t many downsides to going paperless. From postal box services that enable you to see your mail digitally through to using smartphones with a notepad feature, there are many ways you can reduce or even remove the need the for paper in your workplace. Not only will it help the environment but it may actually lead to a reduction in costs.

Remote Working

Remote working was already becoming poplar but now that many businesses have had to accommodate home working due to Covid-19, it should have at least highlighted to fact that home working in fact, is a greener way of working. It cuts back on office space and costs, it reduces the need for the daily commute which is one of the biggest contributors to carbon emissions, and it saves on energy. On top of this, many people who work from home and get into the swing of things because they are properly supported actually become more productive.

Switch To A Green Energy Supplier

While a green energy tariff used to be much more expensive than a standard one, they are now becoming more and more competitive with their pricing. At times they even beat the price of the standard energy suppliers. You just need to find the right deal. You may even complete a comparison search and find that many of the cheaper tariffs are now provided by green suppliers. You could even approach your current provider and see if they have a green energy supply.

Whether it’s setting up a recycling point or switching or energy tariff there are many simple changes you can make to transform your business into a sustainable one. Do you have any other tips that could help a business become greener? Please share some of them in the comments below.
