This weekend I published an early release of a dashboard that makes it easy to search your followers on Twitter.
Upto 5,000 followers are initially fetched when you first access the MyFollowers: Search feature.
For popular Twitter accounts with more than 5,000 followers, remaining followers are added by a backend service near real-time.
In terms of how long this takes, if you have an account with 10,000 followers, the remaining 5,000 will be processed in about 20-30 minutes.
My Followers: Search
You can try this new feature out using the development site here. Once you’re logged in access the MyFollowers section then select Search:
The first time you access this screen it will take a minute or so to fetch and process your initial 5,000 followers. Please be patient!
You can then use the dashboard to search your existing followers with the following fields:
- Username
- Description / bio
- Location
You can also sort the results by the following columns:
- Username
- Description
- Location
- Follower count
- Following count
- Tweets
- Listed
For example, here we can see me searching for “developers in the UK” then sorting by the number of followers:
Use Cases
This is just the first iteration of this screen with plans for extended features. Some of the initial use cases for this include:
- Audience analysis
- AdTech
- Marketing
These are just some ideas and you’ve probably got your own.
